Jacuzzi’s story begins in Italian: Jacuzzi meant “a family name.” A family from Casarsa della Delizia in Friuli; seven brothers emigrated to California in the 1900s-1920s and built aircraft propellers and pumps. It reached English by 1968 as Jacuzzi. In the 1940s Candido Jacuzzi adapted a pump to give hydrotherapy to his son, who had rheumatoid arthritis, and the family marketed it from 1956; Roy Jacuzzi launched the integrated whirlpool bath in 1968.
